Ok, so, here’s the thing. I’m supposed to write a bio about myself. I mean, how vain, right? Those of you who know me know how NOT vain I am. Shup! My nose is NOT growing! Well, I suppose if I have to, and trust me, Ray is gettin’ on my case big time so I have to, I’d best just get it done.
I grew up at my Ol’pa’s (Grandfathers) knee in his music room. He has walls of those old vinyl black round things with the groves in them – some of you may know them as “albums”? The Old Guy even has 78’s. Can you believe it? The gift Ol’pa gave me is an eclectic musical knowledge, and a hunger to learn more. It is a gift that keeps on giving, and I’m grateful for it.From as far back as I can remember, there was music and Ol’pa’s voice telling me about the artists the music. I’ve learned about everything from Bach to rock in that room. The Blues! Does anything need to be said about the Blues? From Ma Rainey, to Jeff Beck and everything in between, it’s all amazing! I’m an old school kind of kid though. I like the Classics the best. An afternoon with Muddy Waters, T-Bone, Son House and Big Mama Thornton. Now THAT’S a great afternoon. I can’t believe I get to hang out in Second Life and play Blues!
As far as DJ’ing in Second Life. Well, I sure didn’t join with that in mind. I had no idea that could even be done when I found Second Life. Heck, I didn’t even know what Second Life was! DJ’ing fell in my lap. I started with country, then classic rock and now, blues. I mean, can it get any better than this! Music, technology AND computers. I’m in heaven.
A word about the Riverside Blues Club. I searched and visited as many blues clubs/sims that I could find in Second Life and was disappointed over and over again. Sorry folks. Nickleback is NOT blues. I was invited to Riverside by a friend when it first opened and I knew I’d found the real thing! I HAD to work here. Ray65 Docherty, the owner, gave me a shot and here I am.
I love Riverside and what it’s all about. It’s the best! So, that’s my bio. Have fun, be safe.
See ya’ll in world.
