When people ask me about myself, I usually just tell them that I’m your average, garden variety evil genius. I’m interested in just about everything (except maybe politics) and only marginally proficient in anything.
I’m no great expert regarding music, but I like playing all kinds, discovering new genres and artists, and generally making people happy and lifting their spirits. I think we all need our spirits lifted from time-to-time… I know I do. I don’t know what it is about the blues that makes people feel better. I’m sure it’s been analyzed somewhere, but I’m of the opinion that if it works, just do it. In medicine (where I actually earn money to eat) this is called “best practices.” Am I rambling yet?
Twas’ Minx Nootan that got me interested in the blues. I always knew it was there, but never paid much attention to it. In fact, my hometown of Sacramento has an annual jazz festival the features a lot of blues. Have I ever been to it? Nooooo. Thanks to Minx however, I started listening. Then I listened some more, and then some more, and finally started acquiring a library of artists that I adore and now can’t get enough of. Thank you Minx!
And thank you Riverside Blues. It’s a great place with lots of appreciative people. A fun and witty bunch. I hope I can entertain all of you.
