Upon coming to Second Life over 3 years ago, I found LIVE music here, and what else, but Blues artists?? Growing up in the South, naturally my love was Southern rock, and what I later learned was Texas Blues…loving Stevie Ray Vaughan. Hearing the sweet sounds of Second Life live performances of JimmyT49 Dukes, Tone Uriza, and Norma Falta…I was lost forever in the Blues world! Tone and his RL drummer, Speelo Snook, always patiently answering my many questions about each song they played. The one I most remember was Keb Mo’s “More Than One Way Home”. That song touching me to my core, bringing back sweet memories of my childhood, growing up with a close-knit family and family gatherings. That song and Howlin’ Wolf’s “Smokestack Lightening” remain my favorite blues songs.
I started DJ’ing in Second Life as a fill-in at a metal club, that quickly becoming a regular spot for me (my love of metal only second to the blues *LOL* What a combo!). My love (and music collection) of blues grew, and when the chance for me to DJ blues came, I gladly took that position. When these club stints came to an end, I was quickly snatched up by one of the then oldest blues clubs in Second Life, DJ’ing there until the club closed for what everyone thought was temporary, then closing for good a few months later. During that time, it was with great pleasure and honor, that I began working with and becoming friends with Raymond. Upon finding out I had a free night open, Raymond “recruited” me for a spot at Riverside.
My style has quickly become known as “no clutch, no brakes high-speed blues”, loving the heavy guitar riffs and pounding percussion of my song selections. However, I love the many styles of blues and add to my collection often! I absolutely LOVE requests and mixing around those requests!
I am deeply honored to be a part of the Riverside Family. I truly enjoy sharing my love (and collection) of blues with everyone at the club. I’m also grateful to all the great DJ’s and patrons for sharing their love and knowledge of the blues with me as well!
