I DJ mostly all blues with some Jazz and R & B mixed in because that is the music I enjoy. How did I get involved ? Well the short answer is I’ve always been involved.
At 8 years old, I wanted to learn to play the piano but unfortunately my parents couldn’t afford a piano or lessons. So I worked for the local grocery store and butcher shop near my house delivering orders in the neighbourhood, and the local church, next door to me, selling soda at bingo and then cleaning up the next day. I only made around $5 a week but it was enough to pay for some lessons and to rent an accordion (couldn’t afford a piano) to practice on and that’s how it all started.
Jumping ahead, mostly I learned to play on my own and played professionally for over 35 years and I have had the honour of playing and being friends with some of the greats in both blues, jazz and R & B and I still keep in touch with a few today. I became a piano technician in latter days and was the technician of note for several recording artists and currently I’m the piano technician for several celebrities ( movie, TV and recording artists) who live in and around the New York area.
I found out about Second Life from a news story on TV about it and it featured a story about one of the sims that had a naked conga line in it. 🙂 Little did I know that some time later I’d have a blues club located right next to it.
Anyway, as a musician, it was natural for me to open a club and play the music I enjoy. So here we are today and I love doing what I do and hopefully I keep learning and getting better at it. Eventually when I have more time to spend I’ll break out the keyboards and microphone and do some live shows in the future. It will be nice to perform once again.
