Wow! What a weekend!
We had such a great time at the Delta this past weekend. We left the Riverside and ventured out on to the Delta and down to the ol’ Bluesman’s Grooveyard. Where we had a real spooky set up. Everyone was so great, the costumes were amazing and the music was awesome – as ever. It was the best weekend we have had at the Riverside. We saw so many people, many of them new, and had so many positive responses to the event that Halloween in the Grooveyard will have to be an annual event.
Friday morning or that weekend was a bit of a panic as we really didn’t have a ton of things done yet. Ann had laid out most of the graveyard and had made those wonderful blues headstones months and months ago but she made the skeleton and the bats especially for Halloween. Finally, we ended up rebuilding the church, adding a weather system and adding some creepy trees and a few other things and voila! We had a spooky place to spend the weekend.
During the weekend, we were giving away cash at random times for great or unique or interesting costumes. There were many. One of the great features of SL is that we can change our shapes. This resulted in so many great costumes. Here is a look at some of these costumes and some of our winners.
It was a time for old friends to get together two. You never know where or when you will run into an old pal. Kermit showed up and Grover was there and they stopped long enough for the paparazzi to take a photo. Miss Piggy showed up later as well. Even Animal was out on the town. No sign of the Cookie Monster though. The rumour is he is at Betty Ford
Sometimes, costumes are just damn funny. Watching the Bear (Guerch McMoragh) dance was very funny. He is a big guy yet still has some very slick moves. Smooth like butter even. Personally, I think he should cut back on the butter or at least the pic-a-nic baskets.
Satan (Harley McCullough) stopped by with his sidekick, the Piffster (Piffy Difference). I always knew she was evil but now we know. Satan & the Piffster sounds like a bad tv show doesn’t it? Where maybe Satan gets saddled with a young imp and has to raise her. It sounds like a sweet domestic tale in Hell.
Did you ever get the feeling someone was watching you?
Did somebody say “Pic-a-nic basket? I think Yogi ate this woman and her basket. Ghouls are fans of Joe Bonamassa apparently but then again who isn’t?
Some costumes couldn’t be ignored. Vals Pixelmaid’s witch costume certainly was one of those.
All in all, it was a wonderful weekend and a great time. So much great music, great costumes and great people and laughter and fun. We never did get a visit from ol’ Robert Johnson but we did get a report of Jimi Hendrix showing up for a bit. The Grooveyard came alive for a few days and it was great. I hope everyone had a wonderful Halloween!
more pics to come….
